FRANÇOIS BOIVIN AND PIERRE RUDOLPH MAYARD SIGN WITH THE ATTAK

Defender François Boivin and forward Pierre-Rudolph Mayard have come to an agreement with the Trois-Rivières Attak for the 2008 season, whereas midfielder Boubacar Coulibaly will not return with the team this season.

François Boivin received the team's sportsmanship award in 2007. He started five of the 19 games he played for a total of 738 minutes of play. He scored two goals during an Open Canada Cup game against London City.

"François is a fighter and he never gives up, I am very pleased that he is back with us," said the Attak head coach Marc Dos Santos. Even though he did not play many minutes last year, he did a great job every time he played. I am expecting a lot from him this season."

On loan to the Trois-Rivières Sélect at the start of the 2007 season, he was called regularly by Dos Santos, and he finished the season with the Attak.

"Last year, I signed as a reserve player and my objective was to show that I was capable of playing in the CSL," explained Boivin. "This year, it is different; I want to be a starter."

Pierre-Rudolph Mayard was out all season long due to an injury that occurrred during the training camp last year in an exhibition game against the Montreal Impact. He is very happy to get a second chance with the team and he is looking forward to play his first game.

"I was part of the team last year, but I could not play, I am therefore very pleased to be back this season," he said. "I can't wait to see how things will go for the team and myself. Hopefully, the results will be as good as they were last year."

"Pierre-Rudolph is a young talented forward with a lot of speed, and he is a potential prospect for the Impact," said the team president Tony Iannitto. "He will add depth and strength to the team. The enthusiasm he brings to the team is one of his qualities. We are looking forward to see him play at this level."

Team captain will not be returning
Midfielder and team captain Boubacar Coulibaly, 29, will not return with the team in 2008.

"Boubacar was a leader, one of our most important and influent players, but he will turn 30 this year and we need to get a younger team," explained Dos Santos. "He always kept the team together whenever times were difficult. I have a lot of respect for the team's first captain. I hope that a new leader will arise."
