Lesage top CSL goal scorer
2007-10-29
Nicolas Lesage scored a total of 20 goals this season Kolic finished third
Following the two championship games played this weekend between Serbian White Eagles and Toronto Croatia, during which the Croatians won 4-1 on total goals aggregate, Nicolas Lesage was crowned the CSL top goal scorer.
With two goals behind the Trois-Rivières forward, Serbian's Gabriel Pop did not find the back of the Croatian net in any of the two final games.
"To be honest, this is a team honor even though my name will be written on the trophy", said Lesage. "Without a good team and good players, you can't win such an honor. I wish to thank them."
"Nicolas is a great worker and a good team player, he deserves this honor", said Marc Dos Santos. "This is a tough trophy to win because it is awarded to the top goal scorer following the regular season, the Open Canada Cup games and the playoffs."
Following Lesage's 20 goals and Pop's 18, Evan Milward (Canadian Lions) and Darko Kolic (Attak de Trois-Rivières) finished third with 15 goals.
In addition, the Attak is in nomination for the FSQ elite male team of the year award, which will be unveiled during the «Gala de la mi-temps».
"We are very proud that our efforts and sacrifices are recognized", said Stéphane Chiarello, General Manager of the team. "This is a bonus for us. Everyone in this team should be proud of what we have accomplished this year."
