PLAYOFF: SEMI-FINAL AGAINST SERBIAN WHITE EAGLES

2007-10-19

Attak aims for second final

The Trois-Rivières Attak and Serbian White Eagles will battle for the fifth and final time of the season, in the semi-finals of CSL playoff, Sunday at 5pm at Esther Shiner Stadium, North York.

Trois-Rivières qualified for the semi-finals following a 3-0 victory over Italia Shooters, last Saturday at UQTR Stadium. Goals from Nicolas Lesage, Elkana Mayard and Darko Kolic permitted the Attak to win its last home game of the season.

The White Eagles defeated Windsor 2-1, following goals from Nikola Budalic, a former Impact player, and Zoran Kokot.

Thanks to his goal last weekend, Nicolas Lesage (19 goals) is actually the league's top goalscorer, whereas White Eagles' Gabriel Pop is second with 18.

Following three defeats in the first three meetings with the Serbs (2-1 on May 18 in Toronto, and then 3-2 on May 27 and 2-1 on June 17 in Trois-Rivières), the Mauricie team won the last duel, 4-2, on September 28 in Toronto.

After winning the Open Canada Cup, on September 3rd, the Attak players aim for another final.

"Our victory against the Serbs at the end of the season gave us a lot of confidence, we know we can beat them again," said François Boivin. "For sure, this will be a very tough and tight game, but we are determined to prolong our season a game further…"

In the other semi-final match-up, St-Catharines will face Toronto Croatia, Saturday at 4pm.
