Two more goals for Darko Kolic Attak inflexible
The Trois-Rivières Attak is now one point behind St. Catharines at the top of the national division following an impressive 4-2 victory over the Serbian White Eagles, Friday night in Toronto.
Since their third and last defeat of the season against the Serbs on June 17, Marc Dos Santos' men are unbeatable and this win on the road against the league leaders shows their progression over the season.
"This important win is very pleasant," said Dos Santos. "It was a big test for us because we lost three times against them early in the season, and tonight we saw the result of our work, our progression. I am very proud."
Alpha Bah opened the score at the 22-minute mark following a very good strike at the second post from the edge of the box (1-0). Seconds from the interval, Darko Kolic put the Attak two goals ahead after a mistake by the White Eagles goalkeeper, George Radan (2-0).
The locals were back in the game when Romanian forward Gabriel Pop reduced the score to 2-1 at 54 minutes.
After a run on the wing, Jean-Louis Bessé passed the ball to Kolic, who scored his second goal of the game at 64 (3-1).
At 78, the score was again reduced to one goal when Jon Paul Piques was beaten by Ricardo Munguia (3-2), but Nicolas Lesage scored his fifteenth goal of the season at 90 minutes and the Attak leaves Centennial stadium with three points and a 4-2 win.
The Mauricie team will play its final game of the regular season on Sunday against the North York Astros.
