Joe Di Buono and the Attak were again too strong for London Who will stop the Attak?
The Trois-Rivières Attak completed its last home game of the regular season with a 6-0 rout of London City, Saturday afternoon in front of 1355 fans at the UQTR stadium.
Following its 1-0 win at Windsor, the St. Catharines Wolves (21 games, 39 points) have a four-point lead on the Attak (20 games, 35 points) and with a last game against London, they look the favourites to clinch the national division title.
Joe Di Buono put the Attak in front at the 25-minute mark when he beat goalkeeper Micheal Frost, following a very nice thru ball from Alpha Bah.
At 31 minutes, Darko Kolic made it 2-0, which was followed by Di Buono's second goal of the game five minutes later, and the home team was comfortably in front 3-0 at the interval.
At 74, Di Buono was the provider and Nicolas Lesage scored his fourteenth goal of the season, whereas Bah scored a solo goal four minutes later and the Attak was 5-0 up.
The game finally ended 6-0 when Kolic scored his tenth goal of the season from a penalty shot, awarded after he was fouled inside the box.
"Our objective was to win this game and keep our chances to finish first, and the players understood the mission," said Marc Dos Santos. "We played very well and it could have been more than 6-0. I wish to thank the fans; they were behind us all season long."
The Attak will play its last two games of the season on the road, first against the Serbian White Eagles next Friday, and then the North York Astros on Sunday, and will be back at the UQTR Stadium on October 13 at 4pm for the start of the play-offs.
