Darko Kolic scored the Attak second goal Attak loses two precious points
The Trois-Rivières Attak lost two precious points, Sunday, following a 2-2 tie against the Canadian Lions at Birchmount stadium, Toronto.
Trois-Rivières had a difficult first half and went down 2-0 after Evan Milward (34) and Darryl Gomez (39) struck the ball behind Vincent Cournoyer.
Marc Dos Santos' men found their rhythm after the interval and tied the game at 2-2, thanks to Darko Kolic's eighth goal of the season at 67 minutes and Nicolas Lesage's thirteenth at the 71-minute mark.
Cournoyer was less busy in the second half, but Matthew Willis, the Lions goalkeeper, had to make a crucial save late in the game to prevent Joe Di Buono a winning goal.
"We tried as hard as we could in the second half, but we were not able to score a third goal," said Marc Dos Santos. "This draw is very disappointing because we lose two important points. Moreover, the pre-game conditions were not very good."
The Attak was indeed not very happy with the reception at the stadium: the game was delayed and the locker-room was in bad conditions.
With this tie, the Attak is four points behind St. Catharines with one game in hand. In order to finish in first place, the Mauricie team must hope that St. Catharines does not win its last two games. In addition, the Attak will likely need three wins in its last three games, starting next Saturday against London City, at 4pm at the UQTR Stadium.
