CANADIAN LIONS @ ATTAK

2007-09-07

Third match up against the Lions

After its triumph last weekend, the Trois-Rivières Attak (6-3-7) will resume its regular schedule against the Canadian Lions (3-6-7), this Saturday at 4pm at the UQTR Stadium (106,9fm).

Marc Dos Santos' men have not lost since mid-June, a 13 game streak including the Open Canada Cup encounters. The Attak is second in the national division, five points behind the St. Catharines Wolves. However, Trois-Rivières has six more games to play, compared to St. Catharines' four.

The Lions are on a good streak as well: they have not lost in their last six games, including a 3-2 win over the Serbian White Eagles in their last game. But they were winless in their first 11 games and as a result they are fourth in the international division. Nevertheless, Dos Santos does not take them for granted.

"The Canadian Lions have improved a lot in this past month, and we will need to be sharp and ready for them," he said. "My players will have to be very mature on the field. The Canada Cup and all its joy must be put aside and we all have to look at this game with responsibility. Every game is won on the field, and I am sure the Lions will face the best Attak team thus far."

Trois-Rivières won both duels against the Lions this season: 2-1 on May 20 in Toronto, and then 3-1 on June 24 in Trois-Rivières. The five goals were scored by Nicolas Lesage (three) and Jean-Louis Bessé (two). They will therefore be happy to face the Lions again and in particular their goalkeeper Matthew Willis…
