The Attak dominated and had several scoring opportunities but could not score and got a second straight scoreless draw against the St. Catharines Wolves, Saturday in front of a record crowd of 2353 spectators at the UQTR stadium.
The Attak had the best scoring opportunities of the first half, notably at the 25-minute mark when Nicolas Lesage crossed the ball to Darko Kolic, who headed the ball toward the opponent's net. The Wolves goalkeeper, Claudio Perri, made a fantastic dive to his left to make the save.
After the break, Kolic and Lesage created a number of chances, but they could not put the ball behind Perri. The Attak was brilliant defensively as the Wolves did not get any shot at Jon Paul Piques, the Impact third goalkeeper in net for the Attak for a second straight game. But the lack of finishing was the subject of discussions following the team's third scoreless draw in four games.
"It's obvious that we have difficulties finishing when we get in the opposition's box, but if we keep working hard and we get the flow going, we will sort it out," said Olivier Brett. "Usually we tend to dip a bit in the second half, but today we kept pushing and got stronger and stronger, which is a positive sign."
"The Wolves came here to defend, to get a point, and we created 8 to 10 chances to score, but we have to put them in," said Marc Dos Santos. "This is a problem because it's another game that we should have won. We have to work that out…"
The Attak is still in first place of the national division, one point ahead of St. Catharines.
