ST. CATHARINES WOLVES @ ATTAK

2007-08-24

The first place at stake

The first place in the national division will be at stake when the Trois-Rivières Attak (6-3-6) faces the St. Catharines Wolves (6-4-5), Saturday at 4pm at the UQTR stadium (106,9fm).

The Wolves registered two impressive victories against the Italia Shooters, on August 15, and the Serbian White Eagles, two days later, and is now one point behind Trois-Rivières at the top of the national division.

The game is therefore important for both teams, who drew 0-0 on July 22 in St. Catharines. In order to get a better result against the Wolves, Boubacar Coulibaly, the team captain, believes that the Attak will have to maintain the pressure and be more effective in front of the opponent's net. "This is our main weakness, but if we play like last Saturday, we should get some goals," said Coulibaly. "We also have to get a big win…"

With a victory, Marc Dos Santos' men would increase their lead over the Wolves and prolong their unbeaten streak to nine league games. Last Saturday, the Attak and the Italia Shooters played to a 0-0 draw in front of 1541 spectators at the UQTR stadium.

Open Canada Cup: London City or Italia Shooters in the semi-final
The Attak will play its Open Canada Cup semi-final game against the winner of the wild card game between London City and Italia Shooters. In the other semi-final, the Windsor Border Stars will meet ColumbusClan FC, the winner in Western Canada. The final four will take place in London during the Labour Day weekend.

The Attak in Karting action
The Attak players will take part in a Karting competition in Grand-Mère, next Sunday from 10:30am to 11:30am.
