Elkana Mayard scored the Attak third goal Open Canada Cup: the Attak advance to the third round
The Attak defeated Jean-Talon 2007 by a 3-1 score, Friday night in Montreal, and advance to the third round of the Open Canada Cup.
The Attak controlled the tempo of the game and took the lead at the 14-minute mark when Darko Kolic scored from a magnificent strike straight at the top corner. Twenty minutes later, Kolic was the provider, and Nicolas Lesage defeated the Jean-Talon goalkeeper with an accurate shot. Following the Attak second goal, the Jean-Talon head coach, Helder Alves, decided to switch his goalkeeper.
After the break, the Attak continued to dominate the game but former CSL player Leo Incollingo reduced the score to 2-1 at 63 minutes. The Attak restored its 2-goal lead with a quick reply and thus secured the win when Alex Surprenant made a perfect pass to Elkana Mayard, who scored the Attak third goal for a 3-1 final score.
"We were the best team tonight, and the best team won," said Marc Dos Santos. "They have some quality players, but our tactical organization and our pace made the difference. We controlled the game from start to finish."
The Attak advance to the third round of the Open Canada Cup and will face London City, the venue to be decided Sunday, July 29.
