Alex Surprenant scored his first goal of the season Disappointment at Cove Road
The Attak and London City played to a 2-2 tie, Friday night, at Cove Road stadium, London.
The Attak dominated the first half and opened the score at 12 minutes, following a counter-attack by Alpha Bah that resulted in a goal by Nicolas Lesage. One minute before the break, Garson Hazel made it 1-1 on a controversial play during which Olivier Brett cleared the ball on the line, but the goal was allowed.
At the start of the second half, Joe Di Buono replaced Guillaume Barrette, who had an ankle injury. At 68 minutes, Vincent Cournoyer made two successive saves to preserve the 1-1 score. Eleven minutes later, a goal by Darko Kolic was cancelled for off-side. Kolic argued with the referee and as a result received two yellow cards. He was therefore sent-off and the Attak was a man down for the last ten minutes.
The Attak put a lot of pressure on the London defence and Alex Surprenant scored his first goal of the season, at 90 minutes, and the Attak was leading 2-1… but London also managed a goal in injury time and the game ended at 2-2.
"It is hard for me to accept some decisions by the referees," said Marc Dos Santos, who was disappointed and frustrated. "We do a ten-hour trip to battle for the victory, which is ok, but it is unacceptable to play against 12 men rather than 11… We lost two points here tonight."
