A great moment in Alpha Bah's career
Alone in first place

The Trois-Rivières Attak defeated the North York Astros, 2-1, Saturday night in Trois-Rivières. It was again Nicolas Lesage who stole the show with one goal and an assist. With the win, the Attak is now standing alone in first place in the national division.

The Astros started the game with intensity, having a good scoring opportunity at the 9th minute mark. However, the Attak dominated the remainder of the first half in terms of ball possession and scoring opportunities.

As a result, the home team took the lead after 15 minutes when Lesage scored his fifth goal of the season following a perfect cross from Alex Surprenant. Twenty-two minutes later, Lesage was the provider and Alpha Bah made it 2-0.

Between the two goals, the locals came close to score three times following attacks orchestrated by Danny Anderson and Surprenant.

Bah was very pleased to score his first goal of the season, which put his team 2-0 up at the break. "I was in the starting 11 for the first time of the season. Scoring the winning goal made the win very special. It was a great moment in my career."

In the second half, Marc Dos Santos' men were not as good as in the first half. In particular, they left to many open space. "We will work on the physical aspect during trainings in order to maintain our level during 90 minutes", said the Attak head coach Marc Dos Santos, who nevertheless enjoyed the win after returning from Europe. "From a psychological point of view, the players also need to remain focus for the entire game, in particular in the second half."

The visitors put a lot of pressure on the Attak defence and reduced the score to 2-1 on a goal by Pasubio Seminara at 65 minutes. He headed the ball behind Vincent Cournoyer on a free kick awarded to the Astros following a foul by Ibrahim Baldeh. Cournoyer was then strong and made some key saves to preserve the Attak one goal lead.

With the victory, the Attak is now on top of the national division, three points ahead of the St. Catharines Wolves. The team will play its next four games on the road, the first stop being at London's Cove Road next Friday, and will be back in Trois-Rivières on August 12.
