The Attak wants to stay in first place

The Trois-Rivières Attak (3-3-2) will face the North York Astros (3-3-1), this Saturday at 8pm at the UQTR stadium (CHLN 550AM).

The Attak played its first eight games of the season against opponents from the international division. In the next three games, they will face their rivals from the national division.

The first encounter will be against the North York Astros, who had erratic results this season: they lost 4-0 and then won 3-2 against the league's top team thus far, the Italia Shooters. But after a shaky start, the Toronto team has won three of their last four games.

Dos Santos back from Europe
The Attak won its last game without its coach, Marc Dos Santos, who was in Belfast to do his pre-UEFA "A" licence, which he hopes to complete in the next two years. Laurence Labonté, the assistant coach, was therefore in charge in the Attak 3-1 win over the Canadian Lions, on June 24 in Trois-Rivières.

Dos Santos hopes that his team will win a second game in a row for the first time. "We are now in first place in our division, levelled with the St. Catharines Wolves, and it's very important that we keep this up. A lot of people didn't believe we could achieve what we have, until now, because of the number of young players in our team. This team is young but mature. Another win will only give us more confidence."

The standing in the national division is very tight: the Attak and the Wolves, who have played two games less, have 11 points, whereas North York and Windsor both have 10 points. London is last with four points. The Attak has now the opportunity, with good results in the next three games, to increase their lead on their rivals. The first step is on Saturday against North York.
