Canadian Lions @ Attak

2007-06-22

The Attak glad to see the Lions again

The Canadian Lions (0-4-2) will be in Trois-Rivières to face the Attak (2-3-2), on Sunday June 24 at 4pm at UQTR stadium (CHLN 550AM).

The Attak won its first ever game against the Lions, on May 20 in Toronto. Jean-Louis Bessé and Nicolas Lesage scored in the 2-1 victory.

During the off-season, the Toronto team changed its name as well as its philosophy, and many of their key players, with whom they finished the 2006 season on top of their division, are no longer with the team. The result is not convincing: they have yet to win a game.

This second encounter against the Lions is therefore a good timing, because Marc Dos Santos' men want to forget as quickly as possible their frustrating loss against the Serbian White Eagles, last Sunday in Trois-Rivières.

"We could have got three or four additional points in our first seven games, but now we have to look forward and our objective is to win the next four games", said Alex Surprenant, who was named player of the game last Sunday. "We know the Canadian Lions, and if we play our game, we will win."

Dos Santos absent and first game for Di Buono

Because Marc Dos Santos is actually in a UEFA training in Europe, Laurence Labonté, his assistant, will be in charge for this game. After administrative and injury problems, Joe Di Buono is finally available to play and will be in the line-up.

The victory being also very important for the opponent, the encounter looks interesting… and will be colourful as well since the Attak will celebrate the Fête nationale.
