Match-up against the champions
The Trois-Rivières Attak (2-2-1) will travel to Toronto to play against the Italia Shooters (4-0-1), this Sunday at 5:30pm at the Soccer Center.
After five games against three of the four best teams in 2006, the Attak faces another interesting challenge this Sunday: playing against the 2006 CSL post-season champions.
The Shooters are undefeated in five games thus far this season, have not conceded any goals, and are first in the international division. But the Attak head coach is not intimidated…
"I don't care about the standings because soccer games are won on the field", said Marc Dos Santos before the team left for Ontario. "I'm sure that our opponent will be very organized, but I'm also sure that if we are able to keep our principles and identity during the 90 minutes we will be successful. Scoring the first goal will be very important in this game. My group is prepared, and once again, they will look at this game like another final."
Shooters forward Jason De Thomasis scored four goals in five games, while goalkeeper Camilo Benzi has not conceded any goals in 450 minutes of play thus far this season. Dos Santos will notably rely on Darko Kolic, who scored three goals in three games, to put an end to this sequence… and to score that important first goal.
Coulibaly and Joqueviel in the line-up
Team captain Boubacar Coulibaly, who is now training with the Impact, and Cédric Joqueviel, who will play his first game, will be in the Attak line-up for the game. Joqueviel and Joe Di Buono had to wait a month before they get their international release, which was finalized earlier this week. However, Di Buono will have to wait a little longer before playing his first game, as he won't play this week-end.
