The Trois-Rivières Attak won its first home game in front of a delighted crowd. The Attak won 4-2 against the Portuguese Supra, Sunday afternoon at UQTR stadium.
The Mauricie team had the advantage very early in the game, forcing the Toronto-based team to play in their defensive third. The first goal was scored by Darko Kolic following a counterattack (1-0), who then added another one minutes later when he received a perfect pass from Boubacar Coulibaly to beat the goalkeeper on a breakaway (2-0).
Marc Dos Santos' men played an inspired first half during which they controlled the tempo of the game and had several scoring opportunities. At the break, the home team was leading 2-0.
Early in the second half, the Portuguese went from joy to sadness. First, they were back in the game after Jesse Barcia reduced the score to 2-1, and then the game was stopped for several minutes when Gavin Fullar suffered a cerebral concussion following a shock with newcomer Jean-Philippe Étienne.
The Attak regained its two-goal lead when Alpha Bah crossed the ball to Guillaume Barrette, who made it 3-1. "The opponent's positioning was bad and we took advantage of it. Alpha made a perfect cross, and I was at the right place at the right time… I only had to put my head and it was a goal", said the young midfielder, who scored its first professional goal.
The crowd was well behind the Attak players, cheering them to add more goals to this exciting game. However, the Supra was again back in the game when Helio Pereira scored a penalty kick ten minutes from time (3-2). The PK was awarded following a mistake by Alex Surprenant in the penalty box.
Five minutes later, Nicolas Lesage scored the final goal of the game (4-2), following a corner kick taken by Danny Anderson, and the Attak enjoyed their first home win.
