Nine new players sign with the Trois-Rivières team
The Attak has announced the signing of nine other players, which completes the 18-man roster for the 2007 season.
A major addition to the team is veteran goalkeeper Andrew Olivieri, who played for the Montreal Impact from 2003 to 2005. He will be assisted by Vincent Cournoyer, who also had a stint with the Impact during the 2006 season.
The signing of central defender Cédric Joqueviel will add strength in defence. Joqueviel played in the French CFA for the Montpellier B-team, the first team playing in the French D2. Moreover, the team continues its mission of developing young players with the signing of Fabrice Lassonde. Aged only 18 years-old, he has already a vast soccer experience, having played for the Quebec and Canadian national teams.
The Trois-Rivières fans will be happy to know that midfielders Tarek El Haiad and Guillaume Barrette will join their Trois-Rivières colleagues Nicolas Lesage, Jean-Louis Bessé, François Boivin and Guy Fotso-Sikali. Finally, Alpha Bah, a former Panellinios player, Boubacar Coulibaly, a midfielder from the Université de Montréal, and Ibrahim Baldeh, a former Montreal Impact player, add depth to the team.
"We are glad to announce our final roster. We took some time in order to evaluate the players and make the right choices. Today, I can say that I am very comfortable with this group of players," said Marc Dos Santos, head-coach of the Trois-Rivières Attak.
Home opener
The team is now set for its first challenge of the season: its home opener on May 13, a historical event since Trois-Rivières will celebrate professional soccer for the first time. For the occasion, the Attak will celebrate mother's day in a special manner. Don't miss this opening game and support your team, the Attak.
