THE ATTAK DOMINATES BUT LOSS
2007-04-21
Le Royal Beauport won in injury time
The Trois-Rivières Attak dominated Le Royal de Beauport but suffered a second loss in three pre-season games, 1-2, in its first home game at UQTR stadium.
"We had 70% of possession of the ball, which means that our tactic is getting better. Beauport played a defensive minded game, and it was therefore difficult for us even if the game was mainly played in their defensive zone. But we have to score more goals, which will relieve some pressure on the players", said Marc Dos Santos, head coach of the team.
A mistake in the Trois-Rivières back line at the 75 minutes led to the opening goal, totally against the run of play. Elkana Mayard levelled the score in injury time after he received a cross from Olivier Brett. However, Beauport scored a winning goal seconds later after the ball was deflected on the cross bar and rebounded on a Beauport player, who pushed the ball behind Vincent Cournoyer. The positive aspect of the game is that the Attak created several scoring opportunities. As coach Dos Santos said: they must be converted now.
