2007-04-07

Successful first game against Lakeshore United

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, April 7, 2007 - The Trois-Rivières Attak began its pre-season calendar with a 3-0 victory against Lakeshore United. The game was played at Soccerplex Catalogna, in Lachine.

Olivier Brett was very enthusiastic following the team's first game: "We played well, there were certainly errors, but with good communication we were able to make adjustments quickly. The atmosphere within the team is excellent and to start with a victory will certainly help to build a positive environment."

The Attak dominated the first half, but could only score one goal. At the 8th minute of play, Nicolas Lesage, posted at the entry of the surface, shifted the ball to Jean-Louis Bessé. Bessé then placed a perfect ball for Danny Anderson, who scored on reception within the penalty area (1-0). At the 37th minute, Pierre-Rudolph Mayard was replaced by Guido Piervincenzi following a knee injury.

The second half was again completely dominated by the Attak. Guillaume Barrette (47) and Anthony Courchesne (49) came close to score the second goal but their shots were over the goal. At the 63th minute of play, Sandro Adessa surprised the goalkeeper with a lob from the left (2-0). Finally, the referee awarded a penalty after a foul on Antonio Ribeiro: Ilias Calaitzidis completed the score (3-0). Ribeiro, who is recovering from an injury, played for the Attak today.

"It is interesting to see our players of tomorrow. One sees already that the coaching offered by Marc Dos Santos is professional, the result being obvious on the ground", declared Nick De Santis, head-coach of the Montreal Impact. Dos Santos continued in the same way: "I wish to install quickly a culture of winning in this team. Today, we made a good first game. There are errors to correct, such as the space between the sectors, but I am satisfied since we begin to play as a team."
