13-game unbeaten snapped by Eagles
Toronto, August 15, 2008 - The Trois-Rivières Attak (9-2-4) lost for the first time in 14 games, by a score of 1-0 against the Serbian White Eagles (9-3-2). A goal by Daryl Gomez at the 10th minute was enough for Toronto. Despite numerous chances, the Attak failed to tie the game in the second half.
A slow start by the Attak is what ultimately cost the team the win. Afte some serious pressure put on the Trois-Rivières defense, forward Gomez gave his team the lead. Despite constant pressure from the Attak in the latter part of the game, the tying goal never came.
Head Coach Marc Dos Santos hopes this loss will shake his team up. ''We've struggled early in the last few games. I hope this game will make our players realize that we have to work from the very first minute. We must absolutely capitalize on our scoring chances. We missed on too many occasions today (yesterday).''
The Trois-Rivières Attak will end their road trip on Sunday against the St. Catharines Wolves (5-7-1). For Trois-Rivières defenseman François Boivin, the team faces a must-win situation on Sunday. ''We'll have to be more opportunistic. This game is very important standings-wise, and we'll have to put out a strong effort. Last night's loss made us realize we have to start playing hard early to walk away with the three points.''
