Crucial Weekend Ahead for Trois-Rivières Attak FC
2008-08-15
Team to play 2 games in 3 nights
Trois-Rivières, August 14, 2008 - The Attak (9-1-4) kicks off a very important weekend tomorrow against the Serbian White Eagles (8-3-2) at 8:00 PM at Centennial Stadium in Toronto. The Attak will try to extend their unbeaten streak to 14 games - which would be a team record. It's the team's last road trip, its last 6 regular season games being played at home.
The Attak will play Jean-Louis Bessé, who's returning from a brief stay with the Montreal Impact. Number 8 for the Attak played 11 minutes in a 1-0 Impact victory over Rochester. Let us keep in mind how close the standings currently are: the Italia Shooters and the Attak are tied at 31 points. A Serbian White Eagle win will allow them to reach 29 points, with one game in hand over the Attak. This is thus one of the key games standings-wise that have yet to be played.
For Marc Dos Santos, this trip constitutes a challenge that must be met. "Both games this weekend play a capital role in how this season will turn out. Our team has shown over the past few games it is ready to meet that challenge and come back home with all 6 possible points."
On Sunday, the Attak will visit the St. Catharines Wolves. The Attak drew a 0-0 tie from St. Catharines on May 31. The Wolves (5-7-1) boast one of the best defensive clubs in the league. Dos Santos' team will have to play without Davy Uwimana, who is presently still with Montreal Impact.
