Andrew Olivieri The 2008 roster almost complete
The Trois-Rivières Attak has come to an agreement with goalkeeper Andrew Olivieri, midfielder Mohamed Sylla and forward Guillaume Héroux, which takes the number of players under contrat to 15.
After shuting-out Toronto Croatia (0-0) during the season opener last year, Olivieri had to sit out the remaining of the season due to a leg injury.
"I'm looking forward to kicking off the season," said the 27-year-old goalkeeper. "Fortunately, I've been able to prepare since January with the Impact so I believe I'm more ready than ever before. If people believe that the Attak's first season was a success, then they should be excited for 2008. This club is definitely headed in the right direction."
Newcomers Mohamed Sylla and Guillaume Héroux are former members of the Quebec select teams and CNHP.
Sylla also played for Canada's U17 and U18 teams several times and has received bursaries from the Impact. At 18, he is the youngest player on the team. Last year, he played for the Lac St.Louis Lakers.
"Although I am young, the coach's selection of me shows that he has confidence in me," he said. "I will have to work very hard. This will be a very good experience, it is time for me to play with men."
Héroux, who will turn 23 shortly, knows Trois-Rivières very well as he played for the UQTR and the Sélect.
"I am pleased to join the Attak, which is a new challenge for me this season," said Héroux. "I hope to contribute as much as possible to the team's succes this year."
These signatures mean that there are only three spots left to complete the 18-men roster.
